About the MMC:

The Modernisms/Modernities Colloquium (MMC) promotes dialogue between the many scholars and graduate students at UW-Madison, who are interested in ideas and literatures pertaining to modernity.

    The group’s tri-part focus includes:
    1. The literary period of modernism spanning roughly from                 1890-1945
    2. Theories of modernity and their implication for the                             periodization and expression of modernisms
    3. Alternative modernisms, or the appearance of cultural                     movements associated with modernity in different forms and              geohistorical contexts.

The MMC, based primarily in the English Department at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, organizes events for students and faculty members across disciplinary boundaries including guest speakers, roundtables and forums. Additionally, the MMC serves students within the English Department through dissertation workshops and reading group meetings.
